"I’ve owned this airsoft replica for about two years and there are a couple of things I need to say. I got the mkII model because I liked the classic m249 look and extended barrel. First off this replica has great externals. Everything that is metal should be metal, which includes the outer barrel, inner barrel, gearbox internals, irons, and the gun frame. The hand guard, grip, and stock are all plastic. There is a ton of battery space within the stock, so you shouldn’t have any problems fitting any NIHM batteries within the stock. You can also rewire the battery to fit within the handguard, but unless you’re wanting to change the stock there should be no reason to do that. Out of the box it was hitting 320fps with 0.25 gram bbs, which is ok for a machine gun. Fortunetaly it does come with a quick change spring, so boosting the performance is quick and easy. The rate of fire is also pretty fast with a 9.6v NIHM battery.

The first time I took it out to the field it operated great and definitely attracted the attention of a lot of people. I was getting plenty of hits with it and it was a blast. The second time I brought it however the box magazine broke mid match. The pins in the stock are also notorious for falling out, which is an annoyance on the field. Unfortunetaly I did have to get a new box magazine costing around $60 just so I can use the thing again, and don’t think you can run m4 magazines in case the box magazine breaks because they feed horribly, at least in my case.

Two years later I installed a new motor, inner barrel, m130 spring, and an 11.1v Lipo battery and this thing rips (I recommend using an m120-m125 spring since it was shooting 0.05 joules over the LMG limit with the 6.03 tightbore and m130 spring.) I’ve fielded it several times and each time was probably the best airsoft experience I’ve ever had. Is it worth getting for the $500 price tag, that’s entirely up to you. If you’re wanting to get into machine gunning I would highly recommend this replica. The quality is great and there’s a ton of after market parts for it on Evike if you decide to upgrade it later. If you’re a smaller person like me (I’m 5,8) then I’d definitely recommend getting a smaller model like the para or the mk46 because that extra barrel length may make the replica too front heavy for shorter users. I found this model a little hard to carry it around at times due to how front heavy it is but I may just be weak I don’t know. If you’re concerned the weight may be too much then definitely go for the middle weight variant. Sure you won’t have as many metal parts but it will be a lot easier to carry around. Overall, whether you’re starting the machine gunning role or you’re experienced, this is definitely the fun for you. Here are some pros and cons that sums this gun up.

Pros:
Looks awesome
Good rate of fire
Easily upgradable
Excellent quality
Heavy (can be a con)

Cons:
The included box magazine will definitely break
Isn’t very accurate (it’s a machine gun so I don’t think it matters too much)
Expensive

"Surprised no one wrote a review on this in a long time. This gun is a phenomenal piece of machinery! I've owned two of these, and it appears that the newer ones have been updated internally as they have slightly better performance. I have no idea why Evike lists the FPS as 390-400 as mine chronoed at 440 FPS woth .20 bbs and no hop. If you are thinking to buy an m249, please know that this gun will perform good ONLY if you you upgrade the hopup unit (Bullgear gen 3) and bucking (Promethius purple). With these upgrades, the gun shoots absolutely far and straight...but If left stock, the range really sucks. Otherwise, amazing platform!!!!

"I won this in a box of awesomeness. This gun is great. Great quality. Shoots great. 400 fps. Also it isn’t too heavy or Too light if you’re an adult. It would be probably too heavy for a kid or a teenager. Over all very good buy
